Check out this episode of my boy, Kevin Fredericks New web series. Its funny as hell! Also, make sure you follow him on Twitter: @kevonstage I saw an article on Yahoo.com that was titled, "Reasons Why He Won't Call You Back After the First Date". It was just enough to inspire a new Up Late With Nate out of me on the same topic. Check it out, comment on it, subscribe, and share it. Up Late With Nate 11 - Gays in the Military 09/08/2011

Tonight, I rocked at a couple different spots. First stop was Maverick's Flat in LA off Crenshaw and the second stop was Yankee Doodle's in Santa Monica. I had a ball at both. I didn't know what to expect of Mavericks flat but was pleased to see countless African American entertainers and icons in pictures on the wall. Such a rich history. There was even a poster for a Richard Pryor show they had back in the day and a signed headshot of him. I'm hella happy that Lewis Dix, from The Foxxhole, extended an invitation to me to come check it out and rock the mic. The people were down to earth and roaring with laughter. If you get a chance, while you're in LA, go check out the spot, also here is a little throwback snippet of Lewis Dix from back in 1991. He's hilarious. I won the 24th Annual Bay Area Black Comedy Competition and he won the very first one... He's been funny for a long time. The second spot I went to was Yankee Doodles in Santa Monica. I was invited out to perform and have a little fun with my girl Big Les for her birthday show/party. The very talented, Leslie Jones. She just got back from New York from a standing ovation performance on Russell Simmons' presents Stand Up. She's a beast! Jay Davis was the host and show producer, it was packed, just to give you an idea of how hot the show was, here's the comedians I saw before I went up... Brian Callen (The Hangover), Leslie Jones (Def Comedy Jam, National Security, and Lottery Ticket), and Neal Brennan (Co-Writer of Half Baked and The Chappelle Show). If you get a chance, check out Yankee Doodles, I'd even suggest that you try one of their Santa Monica Salads, that shit was delicious. Take a look at the clip below of the birthday girl, Leslie Jones, destroying Def Comedy Jam. Up Late With Nate 10 - Shark Attack 09/06/2011

Went to two spots tonight. The Hollywood Improv for Big Spike's Mo Betta Monday's Comedy Show. Its normally hosted by DeRay Davis, but this particular night it was hosted by Red Grant. I got there so late that all I was able to do was catch the let out and hear everybody buzzing about how Capone killed it. I chopped it up with him a bit, hella cool dude, one of the Kings of New York City. Check out the clip of him crushing Def Comedy Jam a couple years back. The second spot I went to was the Conga Room at LA Live for The Foxxhole Live. It was jammin', we were celebrating Sydney Castillo's birthday... he must have picked up 12 different chicks. It was a star studded evening, before the show ended and dancing started I used my iPhone's iMovie App to make a quick little video of the night, check it out below. Peeps in attendance: Jamie Foxx, Lewis Dix, Mark Curry, Tony Rock, Sydney Castillo, Brandon Lewis, BT Kingsley, Naim Lynn, and more. Bumped in to my guy @mistahfab in the airport... so what did we do with our few moments of down time? created content! peep the video. Grind Kings Nate Jackson is gonna make it 08/27/2011
A comic friend of mine wrote this blog about me on his website, I copied and pasted it here. I was truly touched by it. Written by Kevin Fredericks @KevOnStage To the left is Nate Jackson. He is going to be famous and rich one day soon. The only reason you are reading this blog on this site is because of Nate Jackson. He is the one who told me about this website creation site. Thank goodness he did because my old one was crap compared to this. He even gave me tips on how to make mine. As a matter of fact if you visit his site. www.natejacksoncomedy.com you will see that all I did was copy his format. (Don't worry I told him I would do it). In this post I will explain why I am sure Nate Jackson will be a household name before the rapture comes. TALENT Nate is one of the funniest people I have ever met, I've been kicking it with him pretty tough over the last year and as a result I have heard some of his jokes a lot of times. But it's cool because he is HILARIOUS. He does this one joke where he imitates the voice of a Transformer and it keeps me in stitches every time. When he is setting it up I get giddy like a little kid, and he delivers it perfectly every time. He won the Bay Area Black Comedy Competition in 2010 which put I'm in the same class as Jamie Foxx, DC Curry, Craig Robinson, and Rodney Perry. He recently moved to LA and in a short time has began to close the major comedy clubs and he does't disappoint. I personally witnessed him close out The Comedy Union in LA, which means that comics that you have seen on TV were on BEFORE him and of course he killed. He produces the biggest comedy show on the west coast the Super Funny Comedy Show every Thursday night at 9:00 at the Varsity Grill in Tacoma, WA. I went to LA with him and we visited every major comedy club and his show dwarfs them in number. The show routinely has 300+ audience members most of the LA clubs had less then 100. This happens in Tacoma, WA which if you haven't visited isn't quite the hotbed of black entertainment. He will probably be on HBO, Comedy Central, Def Jam and all the others before 2012 concludes. WORK ETHIC I sat with Nate for a couple hours one day and he went over how me makes his show work. Let me explain something to you the man works hard to make that show happen. It doesn't happen because he is just really funny, it doesn't happen because his parents gave him a trust fund with which to fund the show, it happens because he works hard (Along with a group of ladies from Guam shout out to Allyn, Alyssa, Vanessa, and some good fellas Yat, Greg, and DJ). He manages his own websites, he prints out the tickets, he networks to bring the talent, he books the airline tickets, he picks up the comics, he handles the give aways, he face books, he tweets, he tags photos the man works! In the beginning he literally set up each table and chair and broke them down for every show. He is just started a new show in LA called Tuesday Night Live along with another hilarious comic BT Kingsley and I know that will have success as well. John Maxwell wrote a book called Talent is not Enough and for Nate Jackson that term rings true. PERSONALITY Nate is a good dude. That's such a blanket statement so allow me to expound a moment. When I got fired Nate booked me for countless gigs that put money in my pocket. I thought he was working as manager but he was just telling the owners he would bring his own feature comic and paying me out of his own pocket! Let me re-state this the man took money that could have been his and gave it to me. That money of course went to diapers and milk so he is kinda like my kids de-facto God Father, but I digress. The reason that is so mind-boggling because entertainers seem to be crabs in a barrel. Getting as much as they can for themselves and rarely truly trying to help another person. When I needed help with this site Nate showed me what to do, I know most other people would not be so willing to help. This past year I've performed countless times at his comedy show and have grown more as a comedian in the past year then I have in my entire career. When I was in LA for a couple of days he actually told the promoter that booked him that I was funny and he should let me go up in stead. So the only reason I have a comedy club show outside of Washington right now is because Nate vouched for me in LA. Trust me I'm not the only one. So Get to know Nate Jackson. Check out his website if you don't live in Washington, check out the Super Funny Comedy Show if you do. If you don't get to know him now you will when you see him on your TV or in the movie theater.
